The measurement of Pain

It is easy to understand the difficulty in measuring pain given its subjective nature and multidimensional nature.

However, biomechanics can measure physical parameters that are susceptible to alteration in the presence of pain, as long as it has enough entity to affect the functionality of the musculoskeletal system.

The presence of pain can cause:

Limitation on the amplitude of the movement
Symmetrical movement between right (blue) and left (red) joints
Limited movement in left joint (red)

Muscle Contracture
(Manifested with an altered electromyographic signal)
